Getty to Return Select Items to Greece

For years now, the Getty (and other museums with ancient artifacts from countries not their own) has dealt with the question of whether or not those objects should be classified as stolen and should, thus, return to the countries of their origin. On Monday, the J. Paul Getty Museum announced that it will return a gold funerary wreath and a marble statue to Greece that were taken by illegal means. It may seem like small pickings when you're standing in front of the Elgin Marbles, but what seems like an itty bitty concession is "hailed here as a major triumph against antiquities smuggling."
