You subscribe to the Harper's Weekly Review email, right? Of course you do. It's kind of hard to gulp down all the things they summarize so quickly (particularly as there are so many horrible things that happen in the world), but by refraining from commentary, the starkness of the terrible things manages to somehow fit next to the blatantly ridiculous as the world goes to hell in a handbasket.
